What size dumpster do I need for a remodel?
One bathroom gutted to the studs fits a 10-yard dumpster. A kitchen remodel fits a 20-yard. Two or more rooms, or a full interior gut of a 1,500 to 2,000 sq ft house, needs a 30-yard. Tile, plaster and stone counters are heavy, so check weight as well as space.

How long should I rent a dumpster for a remodel?
Seven days covers demolition on most kitchen and bathroom remodels, which is when nearly all the debris comes out. Book the dumpster for demo week rather than the whole project. If finish-out debris needs space later, a short second rental or $25 extra days is cheaper than idle weeks.
Is my remodel debris too heavy for the dumpster?
Remodel debris turns heavy with tile, mortar beds, plaster walls and stone counters. A 20-yard includes 3 tons, about 6,000 pounds. A kitchen of cabinets, drywall and vinyl stays well under; add a tiled floor on a mortar bed and a stone counter, and it can approach the limit.

What should I check before tearing out an older home?
Homes built before 1978 may have lead paint, and older flooring, ceiling texture and pipe wrap may contain asbestos. Paid renovators on pre-1978 homes must follow EPA's lead-safe rule, and suspect asbestos should be tested before demolition. Suspect asbestos material does not go in our dumpsters.

What does a remodeling dumpster rental include?
A remodeling dumpster rental includes delivery the day before demo, pickup, 7 days and 2 to 4 tons for the 10 to 30-yard sizes most remodels use. Heavy tile and stone over that is $75 per ton by the pound, and extra days are $25 if finish-out runs long.

Remodeling dumpster questions
Can old cabinets and countertops go in the dumpster?
Cabinets and countertops can go in. Break cabinets down to save space, and count stone counters as heavy: a large granite slab can weigh several hundred pounds.
Can I put an old water heater in the dumpster?
An empty water heater can go in. Drain it first; liquids are not allowed.
Will the dumpster fit in the driveway while my contractor parks?
A 10-yard needs about 12 × 8 ft and a 20-yard about 22 × 8 ft. On a two-car driveway, a 10 or 15-yard usually leaves room for a work truck.
Can I get the dumpster picked up early?
Call when you're done and we'll schedule pickup on the next open truck. Book by 3 PM for next-day service.
Can carpet go in a remodel dumpster?
Carpet and pad can go in. Keep it dry; wet carpet weighs several times more on the scale.
