What fits in a 15-yard dumpster?
A 15-yard dumpster holds about 5 to 6 pickup-truck loads. It's 7.5 feet wide, a little narrower than the 10, 20 and 30-yard, which helps on tight driveways. The 15-yard is the largest size that takes concrete, dirt and brick, so it covers mixed jobs like a patio and a garage.
Typical jobs that fit:
- A two-car garage cleanout with shelving, boxes and old furniture
- A small single-layer roof, about 15 squares or less
- Flooring torn out of a whole 1,500 sq ft house
- A wood deck or fence tear-out
Examples are typical, not guaranteed. Bulky items like sofas leave gaps, so they take more room than their size suggests.

Will a small roof go over the 2.5 tons in a 15-yard dumpster?
A 15-yard dumpster includes 2.5 tons, or 5,000 pounds, which covers most single-layer roofs of about 15 squares. Check your shingle bundle weight. With 70-pound bundles and 3 bundles per square, one square weighs 210 pounds, and 15 squares weigh 3,150 pounds, about 1.6 tons.
Add underlayment, nails and any rotted decking, and the load still sits under 2.5 tons. A second layer of shingles doubles the weight. For 15 squares with two layers, the same math gives about 3.15 tons: 0.65 tons over, or $48.75 at $75 per ton.

Will a 15-yard dumpster fit in my driveway?
A 15-yard dumpster needs a spot about 16 feet long and 7.5 feet wide. That fits most two-car driveways with a car still parked beside it. The truck also needs about 60 feet of straight approach and clear overhead room from wires and branches.
Our drivers set wooden boards under the steel rails so the dumpster doesn't crack or scratch concrete or asphalt. Keep it off septic lids, sprinkler heads and soft grass. Street placement may need a city permit; the driveway placement guide covers both.
Is the 15-yard too small or too big for my job?
Go down to the 10-yard if the job is mostly concrete, dirt or tile, since those hit the weight limit before the bin looks full. Go up to the 20-yard for a kitchen remodel or a whole-house declutter. A second haul in a 15-yard costs a full rental, so round up if you're close.
What's included with every 15-yard rental?
Delivery, pickup, 7 days and 2.5 tons come with the 15-yard. After that: $25 per extra day, $75 per ton over, $50 per tire, mattress or Freon appliance, and $125 if the truck can't reach the spot. Full details are on the dumpster rental cost guide.

15-yard dumpster questions
How many squares of shingles fit in a 15-yard dumpster?
Most single-layer roofs up to about 15 squares fit in a 15-yard dumpster by both space and weight. Above that, or with two layers, choose a 20-yard or plan on a swap.
Can a 15-yard dumpster take concrete?
Concrete, dirt, brick and sand are allowed in the 15-yard, loaded no higher than halfway up the walls. It's the largest size we allow for heavy debris.
Is a 15-yard enough for a garage cleanout?
A packed two-car garage usually fits in a 15-yard dumpster. A one-car garage often fits a 10-yard. If the garage also holds old appliances, remember Freon appliances are $50 each.
What does it cost to keep the 15-yard longer?
Seven days are included and each extra day is $25. Call before your pickup date to extend.
What happens if I fill the 15-yard before I'm done?
Call for a swap. We pull the full dumpster and drop an empty one; the swap is billed as a new standard rental with its own 7 days and 2.5 tons.
