What size construction dumpster should I order?
A 30-yard dumpster suits most additions and remodels, and a 40-yard, with 5 tons included, suits major demolition, new construction and big commercial jobs. A 20-yard suits smaller renovations. Concrete, block and dirt need a 10 or 15-yard filled halfway. Book swaps as each bin fills instead of overloading one.
| Job phase | Typical debris | Size |
|---|---|---|
| Demolition, interior | Drywall, studs, flooring, fixtures | 20 or 30-yard (watch drywall weight) |
| Foundation and flatwork | Broken concrete, block, dirt | 10 or 15-yard, half full, clean loads |
| Framing and dry-in | Lumber offcuts, sheathing, packaging | 30 or 40-yard |
| Building demolition | Framing, roofing, siding, fixtures (no concrete) | 40-yard |
| Finish-out | Drywall scrap, trim, boxes, flooring | 20 or 30-yard |
How do swaps work on a construction site?
A swap means we pull the full dumpster and set an empty one in its place. Each swap is billed as a new standard rental, with its own 7 days and included tons. Book by 3 PM and the swap runs next day between 7 AM and 5 PM.
Keep the drop zone clear of material deliveries and parked trucks when a swap is due. A blocked spot means a $125 dry-run fee.
Who do I deal with when I call?
You speak with the team that runs the trucks. Reid Bros is a local hauler with our own roll-off trucks and drivers working out of our Denton yard; we don't broker orders to other companies. Scheduling, swaps and billing questions go to the same people.
Which federal rules apply to construction debris?
Three federal rules come up most on job sites: OSHA's chute rule for drops over 20 feet, EPA's asbestos rule for demolition and renovation, and EPA's lead-safe rule for paid work on pre-1978 homes. Each changes what you do before debris goes in a dumpster.
- Chutes: OSHA 29 CFR 1926.252(a) requires an enclosed chute when material is dropped more than 20 feet outside the exterior walls (osha.gov).
- Asbestos: 40 CFR 61.145 requires an inspection and, above set thresholds, advance notice before demolition or renovation (ecfr.gov). Suspect asbestos material does not go in our dumpsters.
- Lead paint: the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (40 CFR 745, Subpart E) sets lead-safe work practices for paid renovators on pre-1978 homes (epa.gov).

Construction dumpster questions
Can I keep a construction dumpster longer than 7 days?
Each day past the included 7 is $25. On long jobs, swaps keep the site clean and reset the included tons.
Can drywall go in a construction dumpster?
Drywall can go in. It's heavier than it looks, especially wet, so a 30-yard full of drywall can pass the 4 included tons.
Can I put concrete in a 30-yard on a job site?
Concrete, block, dirt and sand only go in a 10 or 15-yard, filled halfway. A separate heavy-debris bin also qualifies for clean-fill pricing.
Do you deliver to sites without a street address yet?
Call with the nearest cross streets or lot number and a pin location. The driver needs a clear, level drop zone and a safe approach.
What can't go in a construction dumpster?
Hazardous chemicals, wet paint and batteries are prohibited. Tires and Freon appliances are $50 each. Suspect asbestos material stays out.
